Enjoy the Adam Roberston Elementary 2022 Summer Update newsletter highlighting their new playground! This project happened thanks to the incredible support from so many people in the wonderful ARES school community.

We are preparing to welcome students back for another great year. To help welcome them back as well as promote success through their education, we have build a photobooth for the first day and going forward. We want all students to strive for and achieve graduation and realize that it starts with them and their attitude. We are here to help inspire, support and guide.

We are excited about building our new community of learners and families at Wildflower Creston. During late August parents have been meeting for play events to establish new friendships, and parents have organized a start of year potluck social at Centennial splash park on Sunday, 4th September. The focus on building positive relationships and engaging with others in the community of learners is very apparent, and we are looking ahead to a wonderful year of learning.

An exciting event coming in late September is the Everyone Rides initiative for all of our Gr 4/5 students.
The first lesson will provide a foundation in biking skills and helmet safety. The second will focus on practical hands-on activities like stopping, hand signals and road sign awareness. Bikes and helmets are provided and adaptive options are available for children with diverse abilities. We hope that this will continue to build confidence and skill with our students, and will encourage more people who are able to choose alternatives to cars for transportation in the future as we work towards supporting climate action. We also hope this will encourage more healthy, outdoor, physical activity that will benefit our children. Thanks to teacher Brian Ewashen for organizing and leading this initiative.

We had a great first week at Salmo Secondary. The Week was highlighted by our schoolwide Champion Lakes trip on Friday. We use the trip to build school community and this year did not disappoint. The entire school gets split into five, multigrade teams and compete in a series of challenges throughout the day. It is a special day for our Grade 7's who have recently arrived at the school. They get to meet all the staff and older students while being lead through the day by their Grade 12 senior leaders. A great way to start the year!
